---------------
Respected Visu Sir and TEAM,
At the outset, we are thankful to you for the concluding part of your mail to the effect that Tiruvidaimarudur Makkal Arangam   " A Super Hit Show ".
Absolutely, there is no doubt about the end result as captioned by you. This is the result of sweating of you and your TEAM with peak professional touch, brilliance, smartness / sharpness in reading the pulse of the viewers, a TOTAL TEAM WORK with your expertise touch, guidance, precision and supervision..
Let us summarise as under :
  • Somehow, at the outset, our inner hearts without hesitation prompted that a dedicated Makkal Arangam could be brought to Tiruvidaimarudur. We never relaxed.....
  • Projection of values and achievements,....achieved under stride, showcasing such things, were always on the Top of the Agenda of Makkal Arangam, as we witness in the past.
  • We genuinely felt that TOSA was ticking in the above category. The efforts made by our founders, particularly Dr. Vijayakumar  and a committed army saw to it that, irrespective of the barricades, one can achieve the avowed objective provided the issues are addressed in the right perspective.
  • Your analysis about the show.......was awesome. Having seen the shooting for the whole day and watching on the screen made ocean of difference. To be faithful to you, we enjoy while seeing the repeat show on Saturday as during first instance on Sundays,.....we were little bit tensed and emotional.
  • The way in which you have projected our place, temple, school, students, Railway Station, Cauvery,.....we are immensely pleased and grateful to you. We never dreamt to this type of projection.
  • Stage by stage,....when we were in touch with you through mails, your response, your encouragement, your concurrence for having a show at TDR, scrolling which appeared in Jaya TV, selection process by a highly professional TEAM, your visit to TDR, interviews, shootings, final shooting,.....everything is just dashing before our thoughts through flashback.......We could not believe it.
  • TOSA's Taraka Manthra is நமது ஊர்......நமது பள்ளி.....நமது கோயில்.....All these three aspects have been duly addressed through the show.
  • It has, no doubt, further kindled the spirits and talk of the town is " Makkal Arangam ". Our village folk is appreciating us for the efforts and openly say that these things could be possible only by TOSA.
  • Of course, everybody should realise that it was LORD MAHALINGAA who got it done through some tools.
  • Words are not adequately enough for us to thank You and Your TEAM.....Words may not be available in any dictionary......any thoughts......any imagination......Therefore, let us simply say....Thanks......நன்றி.....நன்றி....
  • Jaya TV and Makkal Arangam TEAM created a trend and proved that such shows can also be held in villages rather than cities. This is the greatest achievement of TOSA and it should be a stepping stone for Rural projection and Rural development by the Media.
  • Our one more desire is yet to be fulfilled,....That is none other than the presence of entire Makkal Arangam TEAM at our place on a particular day. With the grace of Lord Mahalinga, in the past, TOSA has successfully achieved  what it desires. Let us wait for the BIG DAY.
Regards,
Murthy,
President,
TOSA
Tiruvidaimarudur.

Namaskarams Visu Sir!

I open my comments this week with two quotes very apt and telling to the context :

Quote 1 :  "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." Winston Churchill
Quote 2 :  "Consider the postage stamp; its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing until it gets there." Josh Billings.

We all know of Winston Churchil.  But who is this man Josh Billings?  Josh Billings was the pen name of 19th century American humorist Henry Wheeler Shaw. He was perhaps the second most famous humor writer and lecturer in the United States in the second half of the 19th century after Mark Twain.

You may be wondering, what is the context and why bring in these two guys? Well, you need to rewind and look at whom you brought on stage to start the episode with.

Veerakumar from Nannilam, about whom Winston Churchil and Josh Billings are talking aloud.  Considered a lackadaisical and drifting boy he was shunned by his teachers and his own companions, but his sporting instincts propelled him to aim for something that others didn't even think of.  The rotating plate on figer tip for 12 Hours? And also a big football on top of the plate having its own revolutions?  And what perseverance and motivation could achieve you brought on stage for everyone to see in the person of Veerakumar.  Although people may not attach much importance to what he showed on stage, still the fact that he did what others cannot even think of doing for few seconds, speaks volumes for the grit and determination in him to succeed.  No wonder he bagged the recognition from Limca book of records, and will sure succeed with the Guinness Book of records.  "The one undying quality every successful man in this world has is the quality of perseverance. It is this quality which makes even the seemingly impossible become possible.Motivation plays a vital role in the constant persistence of a goal. If one is not motivated to achieve something, he or she is most likely to drop its pursuit half-way. It is essential to be passionate about the aim that one has set for oneself and constantly renew the motivation for it.A man of perseverance is certainly going to do well in his or her life if principle of perseverance is adopted.  It is an apt saying that "fire is the test of gold and adversity, of man". The key to success in any field is the perseverance of a human being.Success in life doesn't come easily and there are many failures and hurdles for a person to clear before its achievement".  How beautifully these wise words of Josh Billings reflected in the feat of Veerakumar! Your scintillating comments at this juncture that "En cumma oorai cutrukiraai enru un vaathiar appo keetatu evvalavu tappa pocchu?" undoubtedly sent thunderous claps from the audience!

This part of the episode was most felicitously embellished by your imaginative background encore of the song "Unnaal Mudiyum Tozhaa!"  Hats off to you sir!  Only an Artiste in you can even think of contriving a situational argosy of insight like this.  Your supportive comments while Veerakumar was  rotating the plate with the football on top of it that"Paarkadalil Parantaman kaiyil ippothu ulagam cutrikkondirukkiratu" was very hilarious and appropriate.

The small talk by the TDR student Kousalya highlighted the situational hurdles on the ground that confront the parents today.  While the children are growing more demanding and conscious of the freedom and lack of restraints around, the parents have the unenviable task of yielding to their just requirements but with a high degree of preponderance of discretionary caveats and nuances.  Kousalyas example of the chicken egg hatching and letting the darlings to ramble around and learn on their own was reflecting a very matured thinking well above her age!

Shree Bharatidasan was emphatic about the benefits of Gurukula type of education.  It brings to mind the fabulous shishtaachaaram that was in vogue even till two hundred years ago when the Indian society was deceitfully orchestrated towards the western educational swing that sealed the educational and thereby the intellectual dominance that marked the spirit of cultural and social ethos India could boast of!  I am sorry to be digressing here, it may look out of times the Gurukula type of education, but surprisingly enough are we witnessing a remodelling of the Gurukula concept by the same british hegemony that twarted the system in India - The St. James Senior Boys school in London teaching Samskritam and Vedic Mathematics for residential scholarships and The Homebush Boy’s High School, Australia, introducing Vedic chanting and Samskritam studies as part of school curriculam.  A Tamilian activist Smt. Akila Ramarathinam, secretary of VHP Australia, is the crusader behind the efforts in Australia.

Visu Sir, I am not sure if I heard Bharatidasan correctly, but I believe that he didn't give an answer to the riddle that he posed - "kannu teriyaata manaiviyaippartu  oruvan  kannadittatai paarta oomaiyan kaadu ketkaatha kanavanidam eppadi solluvaan?"  Did he mention the answer or was it cut or that I didn't hear it properly?

Shri Ilakkiarajavin arasiyalvaadikalaipattriya pecchu uNarchipoorvamaayirundatu!  Very emotional but plainspeak!  Truthful also.  The narratyion about Tyaagi Sankaralingam fasting for 76 days and throwing his life for redesignating Madras state as Tamilnadu, how many youngsters of today know about him? The political circus that we are destined to witness nowadays have all comic characters claiming undeserving accolades and encomiums even for the smallest of  political manoeuvres exacting the platitudes of most political oratory.   For instance very lately as last year, there was not even a murmur when Swami Nigamanand was on fast for 115 days before he left for the immortal world for the pious reason to save the Ganga from the  environmental desecration; to stop the illegal quarrying; for shifting of the Stone Crusher from the Kumbh Mela (sacred river festival)!  Who cares for the life of a sanyasin -  anyway he has renounced wordly desires and so why bother about his life! What a pitiful state our political class has stooped down to! And what silent collaborators that we had become ourselves by our indifference!  We need more of Arockia Pushparaj and Ilakkiarajakkal!

A last word before I wind up – perhaps an absurd question propped by my curiosity - I came to know lately that Kavingar Piraisoodan who has composed the title song for Makkal Arangam is a TDRite!  The Makkal Arangam Programme for Tiruvidaimarudur would have been very enchanting and lively if he had been on the stage!

A different Prayer from me for all of you - Oh God, Have mercy and give these innocent souls the strength of mind and patience for going through this lifeless, boring and didactic harangues of a TDRite!

Sir,
It is not just to praise somebody but the programme is getting better with every show.
I have been watching Arattai Arangam from Sun TV days in 1998-99 and the presenters
speakers and the concept has been gaining lot of people's attention.
Today's display of Tavil vadhyam was exemplary by a man with a single finger on the left hand.
It is simply extra ordinary.  The man who was sleeping on the road, selling vegetables, learning
and now in the teaching profession are just not just examples but extraordinary mortals.
The boy with the black shirt who spoke of the plight of fisher men and farmers appears to have
gift of the gab and spoke with extra ordinary eloquence. Makkal Arangam is doing a great
seva to the people of Tamilnadu by providing a forum for these "ordinary folks" otherwise
but for their extraordinary talent and valour when provided a chance.
Best information today is on the temple itself as it is surrounded by real temples for respective
deities on all the eight sides which are ordained for such shrines .
Good show by makkal arangam and
good effort to bring this Thiruvidaimarudur through TOSA.

The penultimate episode of Tiruvidaimarudur Makkal Arangam was simply superb. It carried values, spread values and value the Values. Unfortunately, values are taking back seat now-a-days and fore-runners are money, fame, ego, publicity etc,. TOSA is one of the rare organisation which gives weight to the values. One of the speaker told in the second episode that after seeing the " Pallik Kuudam " movie, many Old Students" Associations were formed. TOSA is 5 years old and we are proud to say that members of TOSA saw that beautiful movie with admiration. We have contacts with all the living retired teachers of our school and constantly in touch. We note to honour them in a fitting manner on every occasion.  The speaker Mr. Bharathidaasan, one of our student and TOSA member correctly told the same in his speech also.

We now look forward to the glory of our School and TOSA,...last but not the least,...our beloved Teacher Shri Siva Subramanian Sir in the concluding episode slated on 26 th instant.

Thanks a lot and GOD bless YOU and your TEAM.
