Beloved Venkatarama Sir's Bulletin-XV

From Venkatrama Sir’s Karuvuulam

B. Srinivasa Iyer (Thotta Sir)

In 1954 or 55, he came to TDR and joined T.A.H.S as craft instructor.  Right from that time, he is affectionately called asThotta Sir.  He studied BA and BT privately and became a regular B.T. Teacher. He has a big family and his children are very good students.  He had faced many a storm (sufferings) in his life.  Only with the Grace of God, he overcame everything. He was a true and ardent devotee of Lord Mahalinga !  Now, he is residing with his son in Chennai,…enjoying peace and calmness in his old life. He was a good and respectful teacher. Students swarmed him for private tuition because of his method of teaching, holding number of model tests, answering of old question papers, giving number of assignments etc.  May Godbless him with good health and long life!

N Viswanathan BSc., BT
He was an old student of T.A.H.S.  He was related to Mahalinga Iyer (Manja Iyer) of Pachaiyappa Mudali Street. TDR.
NV lived in his next house.  He was one among four children to his parents.  He joined T.A.H.S. in 1954 or 1955 along with R.Kannan Sir of Veppathur.  He was a good Mathematics and Science Teacher.  He had some heart problem and did not marry throughout his life. He was, however, very good at heart.
A good teacher, voracious reader, conversationalist, admirer of music, Cricket, Chess player and other arts.  He was always thronged by intelligent students.

Response from TVR

Respected sir,

Hope this finds you and your family members in very good spirits
Better late than never,…..a few days back, my son rang up to say that you have written about me in one of the letters in computer in TDR Times.  My grand son here opened and read it to me.

There,….I heard those golden days when we had a good time. You have done well to reminisce about my betel box being emptied every day in the front yard of my house.  You have taken care of disclosing those good days when I fell and swam in the river Cauvery.  I also remember the days of our hostel life.
I thank you for just refurbishing the moments in V.J.Hostel, Kumbakonam in the lower and upper stairs.  Also,….of Mr. K.A.K and his friends with whom you spent in the evenings.
Trust this find you all in best of health could permit…
Thank you again
Yours sincerely
T V Rajagopalan
