Dear TOSA / TDR ites,
· Perhaps, all are aware that Uzhavan Express, a new train has
been introduced between Chennai Egmore and Tanjoore, on daily basis. The train
stops at Mayilaaduthurai, Aduthurai and Kumbakonam, enroute to
Tanjoore. This is a good facility introduced by Railways to Delta District
people. The name of the train is aptly coined as “ Uzhavan Express “. Thiruvidaimarudur Town Panchayat Board at its recent
meeting held passed various development related resolutions, interalia,
requesting the Railway authorities to make Uzhavan Express stop at
Thiruvidaimarudur.Subsequently, I had a discussion with
Shri Gopala Krishnan, President who informed that they are in the process of
taking up the matter with Trichy Divisional Office of Railways and Chennai.
Immediately after that I shall gather the contact details. Thereafter, TOSA /
TDR ites also can take up the matter and send similar request/s through mail. I
shall communicate shortly. This issue was also taken up by me on September
20, 2013, in person, with Shri Ko. Vi. Chezhiyan, sitting MLA of
Thiruvidaimarudur who promised to pursue the matter with appropriate
authorities so as to take the request to logical end. Let us wait with hope.
· Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations at our Veeracholan Pillaiyaar
temple was celebrated with added colour by having special Abhishekams for 10
days. This is happening after a gap of many years. It is worthy to note that
one of the Abhishekam contributors for a day was our SBI Venu, Raipur. Let us
continue to revive the past in our soil with pleasure and pride.
· Firewalk (Thee Midhi) and Swami Purappaadu festival was held at
our Meyla (West) Maraiyamman temple with traditional spirits and gaiety. It was
a grand gathering of devotees which went to the extent of diversion of traffic
via East Street and Therku Veedhi. Our TDR wore a festive look on
last Sunday.
