Makkal Arangam Feedback from Various parts of the World

Sir,

It is not just to praise somebody but the programme is getting better with every show.

I have been watching Arattai Arangam from Sun TV days in 1998-99 and the presenters

speakers and the concept has been gaining lot of people's attention.

Today's display of Tavil vadhyam was exemplary by a man with a single finger on the left hand.

It is simply extra ordinary.  The man who was sleeping on the road, selling vegetables, learning

and now in the teaching profession are just not just examples but extraordinary mortals.

The boy with the black shirt who spoke of the plight of fisher men and farmers appears to have

gift of the gab and spoke with extra ordinary eloquence. Makkal Arangam is doing a great

seva to the people of Tamilnadu by providing a forum for these "ordinary folks" otherwise

but for their extraordinary talent and valour when provided a chance.

Best information today is on the temple itself as it is surrounded by real temples for respective

deities on all the eight sides which are ordained for such shrines .

Good show by makkal arangam and

good effort to bring this Thiruvidaimarudur through TOSA.

Pranaams!!! Even though I am younger by 8 years to you, I could take the liberty of addressing you as such, being your follower since the early days of your acting. I have also been an avid follower of your programmes (Visuvin Makkal Arangam) for more than a decade or so. I live in Canada, in Saskatoon, 15000 kilometres away in a sparsely populated but growing Indian population over here with similar followers numbering over a 500 for now.
 
I was watching your recent programme avidly about Thiruvidaimaruthur, my wife's birth place though I come from Ganapathiyagraharam. Your mentioning of 'being in search of a Helicopter in Thiruvidaimaruthur' made me suggest two alternatives, by this e-mail -
 
1) Your team could search under Google Maps about Thiruvidaimaruthur to graphically display the 8 directorial placements of relevant temples and show it on line - a thought which could be implemented by your next episode broadcast itself;
 
2) This small Agronomy based town of Saskatoon also boasts of an innovative 'Helicopter Manufacturer', with a small size but superb aerial videographic capability (web site -http://www.draganfly.com) product innovator. Incidentally I am impressing them towards giving it for such TV and Cinema Videography purposes, with possible great openings through Kolywood and Bollywood!!!! - Probably with your initiation, I could arrange to have it in Chennai at the earliest as well (it costs around CAD $ 90,000/= only approximately);
 
On behalf of the 500 and odd Tamilian poulation over here, I would take this opportunity of congratulating you for continuing your incisive yet mind uplifting programmes and wish it with continued success under your able stewardship. If I am permitted, I would be pleased in seeing you during my next sojourn in Chennai.

dear visu sir,

thayum neeyae-thanthaiyum neeyae these words are
lingering in my heart.sorry name was not noted -the lady who spoke was
exactly true to all working mothers without husband's support.my 12yrs
of first posting in podanur,near coimbatore at age of24yrs i had to
face strong union people.luckily my in charge dr. was good guide and
supportive.24 hrs i will be having calls as labour cases,abortion
cases and my duty day headache.but i gained very rich experience later
in my profession,guts to face any emergency.as she said i wanted to
see one of my kids to become dr.i was caught by destiny into marriage
at age of 19yrs against my parent's wishes.so at 24 ihad one girl 3yrs
and boy10mnths.i realised the blunder i had done VERY late.i was sole
bread winner as my better half was lucky to enjoy life with all
comforts.true i attempted suicide.but when i saw my kids crying and
sitting at lap of works manager wife,when my attempt failed with my
colleagues,i realised i failed in my duty ,having brought 2lives into
world it was my duty to see them well off.of course i did at cost of
deserting maternal affection denied to kids as i had entrusted the
duty to caretaker.so when they grew up they detested medical.even now
though they realise it was my sacrifice they have pinch of loss of
maternal cuddling as small kids.you know olden days if wife divorces
the blame will be on woman esp.dr who has to mingle with men patients
and co.drs.so only i landed in sr,citizen home.kids,now50+ beg me to
be with them .but i want freedom from family life.here i am so useful
to residents well educated decent old persons with lots of ailments.i
visit children&grandkids for short period.i feel jealous of you that
you enjoyed koottu kudumbam.my maternal grandpa had it!!!time is
changing i feel living separately is better as human creatures have
become wicked and BAD.hope you had seen telugu film samsaram.sorry for
boring with my auto biography.i am gifted by god in treating cases as
perhaps before treating i offer a prayer to god that i am not doing

சாதித்துவிட்டார்  நம் ஷஹபாத்
ஆம் என்னால் இவரை  இப்படித்தான் சொல்லி வாயார பாராட்ட முடியும்.
தனி மரம்  தோப்பாகாது  என்று மரங்களை பார்த்து சொல்லும் ஒரு பழமொழி  உண்டு.

ஆனால் அதே ஒரு  தனி மனித சாதனைக்கு இதில் விதி விலக்கும் உண்டு.
அப்படி செய்யும் ஓர் மாபெரும் சாதனையாளரை வேறு என்ன சொல்லி அழைக்க  முடியும்

சாதனை செய்து விட்டார்  நமது ராம கிருஷ்ணன் சார் அவர்கள் என்பதை தவிர.

நெ 44  மஹாதான தெருவில் வசித்தவர்  . 1950  - களில் நமது பள்ளியில் படித்த மாணவர். படித்த பின்னர் மத்திய அரசின் வானிலை  துறையில்  ஒரு அதிகாரியாக வேலை பார்த்து  ஓய்வு பெற்றவர். பழைய மாணவர் என்ற முறையில் தோசாவின் மூலம்  நம் அனைவருக்கும் கடந்த சில ஆண்டுகளாக அறிமுகம்.  அதுவும் கடந்த இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளாக  நம்மில் பலருடன்  நெருங்கிய  பழக்கம்.

நெருங்கி பழகிய பின்னர்தான்  தெரிகிறது  மனிதருக்கு  எத்தனை  எத்தனை முகங்கள் என்று. தனது ஒய்வு காலத்தை   எவ்வாறு  பிரித்து வைத்து கொண்டு எப்படியெல்லாம் இயங்குகிறார் என்று.

மஹாகவி  பாரதி சொன்ன " இமை பொழுதும்  சோராதிருத்தல்" என்னும் வார்த்தை இவருக்கு முழுவதும் பொருந்தும்.

 தனது மக்கள் எல்லோரும் அமெரிக்காவில் குடியேறி விட்டதால் வருடத்தில் ஆறு மாதம் கலிபோர்னியாவில் வாசம் மீதி ஆறு மாதம் தாய் நாட்டில். இங்கு வந்தால் அதிகாலை அனைவருக்கும் யோகா வகுப்பு,  பிறகு ஸ்லோக வகுப்பு பின்னர்  தனியாக பிரத்யேக  காரியங்கள்  மேலும் மாலையில் ஆலையங்கள்  செல்லுதல்   என்று நாள் முழுவதும் பல்வேறு சேவைகளில்   எந்திரம் போல் இயங்குகிறார். நம்மில் பலருக்கு முதலில் கலிபோர்னியா ராமகிருஷ்ணன் என்றுதான் அறிமுகமானார்.

என்னிடம் முதலில் இவ்வாறு அறிமுகமானபோது முதலில் எனக்கு மனதில் ஒரு நெருடல் என்ன நம் வேர்களை மறந்து கலிபோர்னியா ராமகிருஷ்ணன்  என்ற பெயரோடு ஒரு அறிமுகம் என்று.

முதலில் நான் அவரை ஷஹபாத் ராமகிருஷ்ணன் சார் என்று அழைக்க ஆரம்பித்தேன். ( அவரது தாத்தாவின் பெயர் ஷஹபாத் விஸ்வநாத அய்யர் ). அவர்  மறுப்பேதும் சொல்லவில்லை  பிறகு மற்றவர்களும் அழைத்தனர்.  தற்பொழுது இதுதான் அவருடைய சாஸ்வதமான பெயர். 

இரண்டு வருடங்களாக தை பூசத்தின் போது நான் சென்னை தொலைக்காட்சியினரை அழைத்து வந்து தை பூசத்தினை படமெடுக்க சொல்ல போகிறேன். வானிலை இயக்குனர் திரு. ரமணனை அவர்களை அழைத்து வந்து நம் பள்ளியில் ஒரு நிகழ்ச்சி தர போகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி கொண்டே இருந்தார். நடக்கவில்லை. ஒரு நேரத்தில் நாங்கள் அவரை கேலி செய்ய ஆரம்பித்தோம். அவரும் சிரித்துக்கொண்டு ஒருவாறு சமாளித்து கொண்டே இருந்தார்.

கடந்த மாதம்  தானே புயல் தமிழ்நாட்டை தாக்க வந்த போது புயல் நிலவரம் குறித்து போன் செய்து அவரை சற்றே கிண்டலாக நீங்கள் திரு ரமணன் அவர்களிடம் கேட்டு சொல்லுமாறு    கேட்டோம்.

அப்போது தான் அவர் திடீரென்று ஒரு குண்டை எங்களை நோக்கி  போட்டார்.

ஏய் நான் திரு. ரமணனை நம் திருவிடைமருதூர் நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு சொல்லிவிட்டேன் அவரும் வருவதற்கு ஒப்புதல் கொடுத்துவிட்டார். வரும் 21 / 01 / 2012 சனிக்கிழைமை நம் பள்ளியில் ஏற்பாடு தலைமை ஆசிரியரிடம் சொல்லிவிட்டேன். நாம் அனைவரும் முதல் நாள் வெள்ளிகிழைமை  செல்கிறோம் நீ கண்டிப்பாக என்னுடன் வருகிறாய் என்று. அனைத்து ஏற்பாடுகளையும் அவரே முன்னின்று செய்தார்.

சொன்னபடி திரு. ரமணன் அவர்கள், நம் தோசாவின்  தலைவர் திரு.  மூர்த்தி அவர்கள், செயலாளர் ராம்ஜி மற்றும் திரு ராமகிருஷ்ணன் சார் அவர்களுடன் நானும்   சென்னையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டோம். வழியில் திரு ரமணன் அவர்களுக்கு பாண்டிசேரியிலும், கடலுரிலும்  அரசு அதிகாரிகளுடன் ஒரு நிகழ்ச்சி. புயல் பாதித்த கடலோர பகுதிகளை மற்றும் மீனவர்களையும் நேரில் பார்வையிட ஒரு ஏற்பாடு.

ரமணன் அவர்கள் புயல் வந்தால் எப்படி இருக்க வேண்டும் மக்களை எப்படி பாதுகாப்பான பகுதிக்கு அனுப்பி வைக்க வேண்டும், கால்நடைகளை எப்படி பாதுகாக்க வேண்டும். காற்று எப்படி வேகமாக வரும் புயலுக்கு பின்னர் வானிலை எப்படி இருக்கும் என்று மீனவர்களுக்கு சொல்லி கொடுத்தார்.

நாங்கள் பார்த்த அனைத்து கிராம மீனவர்களுமே திரு. ரமணன் அவர்களை ஒரு கடவுளின் துதுவராகதான்  பார்த்தனர்.  மீனவர்களில் பலர் திரு. ரமணனன் அவர்களை பார்த்து ஐயா நீங்கள் இந்த புயல் மிக வலுவானதாக இருக்கும் கூரைகள்   பிய்த்துகொண்டு போகும் என்று முன்னமேயே சொன்னீர்கள் அப்படித்தான் எங்களது வீட்டு கூரைகள்   பிய்த்துகொண்டு  போனது. அனைத்து மரங்களும் விழும் என்று சொன்னீர்கள். நீங்களே இதோ பார்க்கிரீகள்   மரங்கள்  அனைத்தும் விழுந்து கிடக்கின்றன. எங்களது படகுகள் அடித்து கொண்டு போய்விடும் என்றீர்கள் படகுகள்
அனைத்தும்  சுமார் ஒரு கிலோமீட்டர் துரம் சென்று விழுந்து கிடந்தது. எங்கள் அனைவரையும் நீங்கள் கடலோரத்திலிருந்து அப்பால் சென்று விடுங்கள் என்றீர்கள் நாங்கள் அனைவரும் சென்று விட்டோம்.

 உங்களால்தான் இந்த புயலில் உயிர் சேதம் மிக மிக குறைவு. உங்களை கும்பிடுகிறோம் ஐயா என்றார்கள். எங்கள் அனைவருக்கும் மனதில் மிக்க நெகிழ்ச்சி. பின்னர் திருவிடைமருதூர் நோக்கி பயணம்.

மறுநாள் காலை இரண்டு மணியளவில் நமது பள்ளியில் திரு. ரமணன் அவர்களின் நிகழ்ச்சி. சுமார் 1750  மாணவ மாணவிகள் பங்கு பெற்றனர். பெரும்பாலான ஆசிரியர்கள். தலைமை ஆசிரியரும், பள்ளி நிர்வாகி திரு கோமதி நாயகம் அவர்களும் மிக அருமையாக ஏற்பாடுகளை செய்து இருந்தனர்.

முதலில் திரு ரமணன் அவர்கள் வானிலை, மழை, மேகங்கள், காற்றழுத்தம், புயல் இவை குறித்து ஒரு ஒலி ஓளி காட்சியினை தத்ரூபமாக விளக்கினார். தானே புயல் காட்சிகளை படமெடுத்து விளக்கினார். அனைவருக்கும் மிக அருமையாக இருந்தது.

பின்னர் திரு ராமகிருஷ்ணன் அவர்கள் ஒரு கேள்வி பதில் நிகழ்ச்சி நடத்தி சரியான பதில் கூறும் மாணவ மாணவிகளுக்கு பரிசு வழங்கபட்டது.

நிகழ்ச்சியின் முத்தாய்ப்பாக கடைசியில் மாணவ மாணவிகள் திரு ரமணன் அவர்களிடமே நேரடியாக வானிலை குறித்து கேள்வி பதில் இருந்தது. பல மாணவ மாணவிகள் கேள்விகளை தொடுக்க அனைத்து கேள்விகளுக்கும் திரு ரமணன் அவர்கள் பதில்களை சொல்லி அனைவரையும் மகிழ்வித்தார்.
 

இதில் கூட நான் ஒரு முக்கியமான ஒரு சம்பவத்தை குறிப்பிட வேண்டும். பல கேள்விகளை கேட்ட மாணவ மாணவிகளுள் ஒரு மாணவி கேட்ட ஒரு கேள்வி திரு ராமணன் அவர்களின் மனதில் மிகுந்த நெகிழ்சியினை ஏற்படுத்தியது அவர் அந்த மாணவிக்கு மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் பதிலும் கூறினார்.  

 

அந்த மாணவியின் கேள்வி இதுதான்.

 

திரு ரமணன் சார் அவர்களே நீங்கள் வானிலை துறையில் படித்து டாக்டர் பட்டம் பெற்று இந்த மகத்தான சேவையினை செய்து எங்கள் முன் இருக்கிறீர்கள் இது போல் நானும் இந்த துறையில் சேர்ந்து சேவையினை செய்ய நான் என்ன படிக்க வேண்டும் என்று எனக்கு அறிவுரை வழங்குவீர்களா என்பதுதான் அந்த கேள்வி.

 

இதனை நான் முக்கியமாக குறிப்பிட காரணம் தற்காலத்தில் பெற்றோர்களும் சரி மாணவர்களும சரி நன்கு படித்து மேலை நாடுகளில் வேலைக்கு போய் கை நிறைய சம்பாதிக்க வேண்டும் அங்கேயே தங்கி விடவேண்டும் என்பதுதான் நோக்கம்.

 

இதன் விளைவு அடிப்படை விஞ்ஞானம் படிப்பதற்கு யாரும் முன்வருவதில்லை. அதனால் நம் நாட்டின் தேவை குறித்தோ சேவை குறித்தோ நினைப்பது கூட இல்லை. கேள்வி கேட்ட அந்த மாணவியின் எண்ணம் இதற்கு மாறாக உள்ளது.

 

இதனை நான் முடிப்பதற்கு முன்னர் ஒரு செய்தியினை மட்டும் சொல்லி முடித்து விடுகிறேன். பகவத் கீதையில் ஒரு செய்தி வரும். எவர் ஒருவர் பிரிதி பலன் ஏதும் பார்க்காமல் எண்ணம் சொல் மற்றும் செயல் முதலியவைகளை பண்ணுகிரார்களோ அதற்கு பெயர் கர்ம யோகம் என்று பொருள் அவர்கள் கர்மயோகிகள் என்று கிருஷ்ண பரமாத்மா சொல்கிறார். இதையே நம் தமிழிலும் ஸ்ரீ குமரகுருபரர் தனது நீதி நெறி விளக்கப்பாடலில்

மெய்வருத்தம் பாரார் பசிநோக்கார் கண்டுஞ்சார்
எவ்வெவர் தீமையு மேற்கொள்ளார் - செவ்வி
அருமையும் பாரா ரவமதிப்புங் கொள்ளார்
கருமமே கண்ணாயி னார்.

 

கர்ம யோகத்தை பாடலாக பாடுகிறார்.

 

ஆக நமது ராமகிருஷ்ணன் சாரும் திரு ரமணன் அவர்களும் ஒரு கர்ம யோகத்தையே செய்துள்ளனர்.

அன்று மாலையே அனைவரும் சென்னைக்கு பயணம் அனைவரும் வீடு திரும்பிய போது நடு இரவு சுமார் மணி மூன்று. வரும் வழியில் அனைவருக்கும் பேச்சினுடே ஒரு இனிமையான அளவளாவல். மறக்க முடியாத ஒரு மகானுபவம். இதனை சாதித்து காட்டிய பெருமை ஷஹபாத் அவர்களையே சேரும்

Aanmeegam Aanandham.-By RBI Sridhar

Dear All!

 

Attached is a paper clipping appeared in Daily Thanthi at Thiruvarur.  The Foundation under the banner Aanmeegam Aanandham has commenced last year where the love of the people at Thiruvarur made me as the Hon.Founder President. On completion of the first year of its existence at Thiruvarur, this Foundation arranged a special programme where Thiru Sukhi Sivam was invited to deliver speacial lecture on the title Aanmeegam Aanandham.  God has been kind enough in considering me as one of the instruments for this great movement and I wish and look forward to the blessings of our teachers, elders, good wishes from my friends and colleagues.

May Lord Mahalingam be with me as a driving force to do the best towards the welfare of the people. A small beginning in my life where I should leave a big foot print with HIS DIVINE GRACE!

ஒரு உண்மை தகவல்

Dear All!

 

Just for one reason of my not having the facility of typing in Tamil font, I am sending this reply in English with a heavy heart - in the sense I am unable to compete with the language that has been emotionally embedded with the background of a great tragic life of our old renowned musicians produced by our soil TDR. When I read the article, it touched my heart and ignited my flame of sympathy which could even go to the extent of burning out the creator HIMSELF as to how much HE is playing with such art and artists to be completely submerged into the cycle of time. In other words the title which reflects the feeling is those great artists who have  dissolved into the flood of time and completely vanished from the minds of the present generation. What a Divine drama that we are facing in this world and probably the cycle of life tells the story and comes out with the gist of the Mahabharata where Krishna says what today is for you might be for another tomorrow!  What great people to hold their prestige.

 

There are plenty of people who have risen and vanished and as far as possible if we remember them during our days, that is the tribute that we pay for them.  TOSA has extended its arm towards multifarious purposes and we will continue to strive hard to bring out the treasures of TDR soil with our capability of having many connections which will be knitted like a web where we will not leave any connection nor any chance to explore and exploit the opportunities to bringing about the fame and name of our Thalainagaram

 

TDR times should  keep up its  writings on matters of treasure which  could lead people into mesmorising moments by bringing out hidden truths and especially  articles will serve as references to all of us. Really we all appreciate the joint  efforts on this count and  let us continue the   tremendous and plaudable job where the appreciation is shared by one and all equally!

 

Hope our Sridhar must be the bridging instrument for such articles as he has hidden treasures in his hardware of brain!

ஒரு உண்மை தகவல்

மறுப்பு கடிதம் 
கடந்த வாரம் கால வெள்ளத்தில் கரைந்து போன கலைஞ்ர்கள் என்னும் தலைப்பில் திரு. ப. கோலப்பன் என்பவர் எழுதியதாக ஒரு கட்டுரை சொல்வனம் என்னும் மாதமிருமுறை  இணையதள இதழில் 31 / 12 / 2011 வந்திருப்பதாகவும் அதன் மறு பதிப்பு TDR Times - ல் வெளியிடப்பட்டு இருந்தது. http://solvanam.com/ 

இதே கட்டுரை சமீபத்தில் The Hindu தினசரியில்  வந்திருந்தது. பெரும்பாலானவர்கள் படித்திருப்பார்கள் என நம்பலாம். நானும் படித்தேன்.

நான் இந்த கடிதம் எழுதுவதற்கு காரணம் The Hindu - ல் வந்த தகவல்களை தாண்டி மேலும் ஒரு தகவல் மிக மிக தவறாக அதுவும் மிகவும் மிகைபடுத்தப்பட்டு அது சொல்வனம் இணைய தளத்தில் வெளியிடப்படிருப்பதை மறுப்பு தெரிவிக்கத்தான்.

சொல்வனம் இதழில் தரப்பட்ட தவறான தகவல் இதுதான்

“இந்த ஊரில் ஒரு நாயுடு ரைஸ் மில் வைத்திருந்தார். அரையணாவுக்கு நெல் அரைத்துத் தருவார். கூலி அதிகமாக இருக்கிறது என்று எல்லோரும் வீருசாமி பிள்ளையிடம் கூறினார்கள். நாயுடு அவருக்கு நண்பர். காலணாவுக்கு அரைத்துத் தருமாறு நாயுடுவிடம் கேட்டுக் கொண்டார். நீரு ஒரு மில் வைச்சு காலணாவுக்கு அரைத்துக் கொடும் என்றார் நாயுடு ".

மேற்கண்ட இந்த தவறான தகவலை எழுதிய கட்டுரையாளருக்கு கீழ்கண்ட சில விவரங்களை தர விரும்புகிறேன்.

காலஞ்சென்ற இசை கலைஞ்சர் திரு. வீருசாமி பிள்ளையும் சரி திரு. ஜெயராம நாயுடுவும் சரி இருவருமே திருவிடைமருதூரில் சிறு வயது முதல் அடி மட்டத்திலிருந்து தங்களது வாழ்க்கையில் சிறுக சிறுக வளர்ந்து ஒரு வளமான நாணயமான  ஒரு வாழ்க்கையினை அமைத்து கொண்டவர்கள். அதுவும்  தங்களது உழைப்பையே மட்டுமே மூலதனமாக வைத்து.

திரு வீருசாமி பிள்ளை அவர்கள் பிரபல  இசை கலைஞ்சர் என்னும் முறையில் இருந்து விட்டதால் அவரது வாழ்க்கை சம்பவங்கள் சாதாரணமாக வெளிவந்துவிட்டன. சொல்வனம் இதழிலும் அப்படியே வந்திருக்க வாய்ப்பு.

ஆனால் திரு. ஜெயராம நாயுடு அவர்களை பற்றி இந்த கட்டுரையாளருக்கு தெரிந்திருக்க வாய்ப்பு இருந்திருக்காது என்று தான் நான் நினைக்கிறேன். அப்படி தெரிந்திருந்தால் இப்படியெல்லாம் எழுதி இருக்கவே மாட்டார்.

எனவே எனக்கு தெரிந்த ஜெயராம நாயுடு அவர்களை பற்றி நான் தெரியபடுத்துவதுதான் சரியாக இருக்கும் என்று நான் சில தகவல்களை சொல்ல விரும்புகிறேன்.

காரணம் நான் திருவிடைமருதூரில் பிறந்து வளர்ந்து 1984  வரை அவ்வூரிலேயே இருந்திருக்கிறேன். மேற்படி இருவரையும் நான் பார்த்திருக்கிறேன்.

திரு. வீருசாமிபிள்ளை வடக்கு வீதியில் தனது வீட்டு திண்ணையில் காலையில் நாதஸ்வரத்தில் சாதகம் செய்வதையும் பார்த்திருக்கிறேன். திரு. ஜெயராம நாயுடு மில்லில் கல்லாவில் அமர்ந்து இருப்பதையும்  சரி மிஷினில் மாவு அரைத்து கொடுப்பதையும் சரி இரண்டையுமே பார்த்திருக்கிறேன்.

திரு ஜெயராம நாயுடு  அவர்கள் தனது சிறு வயதில் முதன் முதலில் ஒரு டைலர் கடையில் சட்டைக்கு காஜா தைத்து கொடுக்கும் ஒரு சிறிய பையனாக தனது வாழ்க்கையினை தொடங்கியவர். .

தனது அயராத உழைப்பின் மீது இருந்த நம்பிக்கை ஒன்றை மட்டுமே மூலதனமாக வைத்து வாழ்க்கையில் உயர்ந்தவர். 

மேற்படி இருவரும் நல்ல நண்பர்களாகவே இருந்து வந்திருக்கின்றனர். சாதாரண நண்பர்களாக அல்ல மிக மிக நெருங்கிய நண்பர்களாக அதுவும் தங்களது வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும்

திரு வீருசாமி பிள்ளை அவர்கள் வசதி ஏற்பட்ட பின் தனது  வசதி வாய்ப்பினை மேலும் பெருக்கி கொள்வதற்காக ஒரு மில்லை ஏற்படுத்தினாரே தவிர . தொழில் போட்டி காரணமாகவோ, பொறாமையினாலோ, சண்டையினாலோ  அல்லது வீம்புக்காகவோ அவர் மில்லை ஏற்படுத்தவே இல்லை என்று இதன் மூலம் உங்களுக்கு தெரிய படுத்த விரும்புகிறேன்.

மேற்கண்ட அந்த இருவருமே திருவிடைமருதுரின் மாமனிதர்கள் அதில் ஒருவரை பற்றிய தகவல்களை கொடுப்பதற்காக  மற்றொருவரை பற்றி தவறான தகவல் கொடுத்தால் எப்படி சரியாக இருக்கும். 

ஒரு உண்மையினை பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பதுதான் எனது நோக்கம். அதன் பொருட்டுதான் இந்த கடிதம்

An emotional Re-union with our New RS Sir! (Part-III)

I wrote in my previous posts reminiscing that view of the personality of our New RS Sir as a trailblazer, a paladin of English language teaching, who continued to enthral every student of TAHS those days.  It is still green in the memory of every student of his how his repertoire of theatrical excursions into Wordsworth and T.S. Elliot mesmerized the entire student and teaching community at TAHS those days.  The sedate and sober anecdote recollected by Sri Raghuraman from Delhi last week in our TDR Times about New RS Sir presents yet another view of his personality as a very sympathetic and compassionate Soul!  This week I propose to share the spiritual side of his colourful personality and the rare insights into the domain of religious and vedantic perceptions and experiences that showcase the acumen and aptitude of our great master.

Spiritual and aesthetic experience is in the very nature of human beings.  Even early man must have enjoyed the beauty of the star spangled firmament, the sun rise, the sea or the flowering forest trees. When homosapiens began to think and contemplate on the reality of the existence, they experienced the spiritual bliss too.  They evolved progressively and proleptically, conceptualizing pyromantic postulates with the expectation of an imminent cosmic cataclysm in which a Super Power destroys the ruling powers of evil and raises the righteous to life.

Bharata varsha being the cradle of the ancient civilization of the world had produced an innumerable number of seers and sages who were Mantra Drashtas and had the powers to inquire beyond the transient existence in this world.  The Upanishadic sayings and their illuminating and authentic exposition by our savants which were conducive to the delineation of the true realm of transcendental and spiritual concomitance with the supreme self emphatically elevates even the crusty, irascible and cantankerous agnostic with an esemplastic power that bewilders the most rational and iconoclastic minds!

These irrepressible and irrefutable waves of thoughts about our antiquity were immanent in my mind when our New RS Sir,  pardon my memory loss, our New RS Acharya, with an argosy of insight into our scriptural pronouncements started expounding on the holistic view of the universe with its stress on the Divine permeating or controlling every aspect of Creation, helping us to elevate our mind from the microcosm to the macrocosm, from the mundane to the mystic levels.  His expatiation of the upanishadic doctrines displayed great sanity of judgement, maintaining a high level of brilliant polemics and acuteness and was generally couched in a soft courteous language.  True to his image as an English Teacher par excellence!

Exactitude and preciseness that are needed in such modern citations which give vent to expressions and meanings metaphorically were not lost in the course of his periphrastic but prosilient declamations.  He went on to dwell deeper into Indian philosophical thought, giving a crystalline view of different standpoints and differing views at different time periods covering a host of Vedantic and Nyaya schools, Darshanas, and related scriptures.  He explained how Man is often described as a rational animal, and once the animal in him gets satisfied with its basic biological needs like food, shelter and security, the rational mind starts looking at higher aspects of the evolutionary process, the result of such enquiry leading him to the analysis of human origin and evolution, nature of man and other living beings, the physical world and its attributes, existence of a Super Power we call us GOD and the goal of human life and the ways to accomplish it.

The entire edifice of Advaita metaphysics as built assiduously by Gaudapada and AdiSankara was capsulated in a compendium of spiritual synopsis lasting a couple of ten minutes in his mellifluos voice echoing 'cantus firmus' of sorts ! His small discourse condensed and covered related topics like Brahman, Maya, Ajnana or Avdya, Jeevatma, Paramatma, Sadhanas and Mukti !Talking about Sadhanas and Mukti he digressed into Bhakti marga, Upasanas, SriVidya, SoundaryaLahiri, LalithaSahasranamam, Devi Bhagavatam, and finally onto his favourite AbhiramiAndati.  He elucidated as to how Pranava originated with the unison of Siva and Shakti! He expanded on the concept of AkaraUkaraMakara taken from RikYajusSamavedas culminating in the Omkara!  He spoke emotionally on Tripurasundari, Samashti and Vyashtitatvas, the Tanmatras and explained the philosophical and Vedanta aspects of AbhiramiAndati.   His transition from Saktham to Vedanta doctrines may appear a bit of transilient overshoot to a non-discerning listener but on a more careful scrutiny would enlighten an avid mumukshu  of the benefits of Bhakti yoga to develop vairagya through sadhana and cleanse his upadhis so that he qualifies to comprehend the Ultimate Truth !

The short time I was privileged to be in his presence and tried to grasp the significance, implications, or importance ofthe Advaitic and Shaktam philosophy opened new vistas of inspirational spiritualism in my mind.  I could see clearly the transformation of the pragmatic and prosaic to a preponderant Purusharta seeker!

The Advaitic concepts that he enunciated for a while that day reminded me of an outwardly innocuous conversation between Napoleon and the Pope that I read sometime back :

When Napoleon asked the Pope to have him crowned emperor, the Pope questioned him: I thought you did not believe in God?

"I don't," replied Napoleon, "but I believe in religion."

Thinking of this one would certainly comprehend the undercurrent of Faith as the ultimate guide to Destiny and the immortality of the Soul!

I am attracted very much by this small note of Reason that some literate and enlightened soul had posted on the Net :

“PURE practical reason postulates the immortality of the soul, for reason in the pure and practical sense aims at the perfect good (summumbonum), and this perfect good is only possible on the supposition of the soul's immortality. It is the moral law which determines the will, and in his will the perfect harmony of the mind with the moral law is the supreme condition of the summumbonum.”

Well, I feel happy and blessed to be a student of New RS Sir, who embodies this  ‘summumbonum’ !
